Spanish Language Learning

If you alreay know us then words are not necessary, and if you do not know us yet, I am Demetrio Sánchez, the Director of Studies at the don Quijote Spanish language school in Barcelona. I presume that you want to learn Spanish. I can also imagine why you want to learn it: work, studies or just for fun -which is, by the way, a magnificent reason. I also understand your doubts: Where? Barcelona? Why? The Ramblas, the Barceloneta, the Güell Park, the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí, Dalí... But all that is not enough without human warmth, without people. My colleagues and I know this from our experience, which is why we want to offer you our personal side as well as our professional side as much as possible. We are people who work with people, and when we give a Spanish course we try to make friends. The decision is yours.

Speaking Spanish will allow you to communicate with almost 500 million people worldwide! It is the official language of both Spain and almost all of Latin America and is also widely spoken in places where it is not an official language. Knowing Spanish will not only make your travel to these parts more enjoyable but may well also provide you with more employment options. What’s more is that it is a growing language. The Hispanic population is increasing in size and the economy of Latin America’s is also becoming stronger. So taking a course with don Quijote in Barcelona to improve your Spanish won’t just be an enjoyable experience but a very useful one too!

Tourist attractions in Barcelona

Barcelona is full of excellent cultural sites. The city is home to striking architecture, great museums and there is always something going on. As Barcelona lies on the Mediterranean coast there is even a beach upon which you can while away your free time, enjoying the sunshine!

Barcelona is the most cosmopolitan city of Spain. Gaudi’s modernist architecture can be seen throughout the city, from the towering Sagrada Familia to the colourful Casa Batillo, his work is always exciting. The artists Picasso, Miro and Dali also spent considerable amounts of time in the city and there are some great museums which house their work.

Barcelona is always busy; as you walk down the central street La Rambla you will be amazed by the street performers array of outfits and the general hustle and bustle. There is an excellent market, La Boqueria and your trip would not be complete without spending sometime wandering around the old town, the Barrio Gotico. If you just fancy relaxing though the city has some great parks like Parc de la Cuitadella or Parc Guell, another one of Gaudi’s great works.

It really is a great place to learn Spanish and as the city has so much to offer you will never be short of something to see or do.
